The Story Behind D11: Crafting Something Rare
Every limited-edition release at Crown Northampton begins with meticulous planning, and D11 is no exception. The journey for this release started over a year ago, during our visit to the Horween tannery in Chicago last October. After discussions with Nick Horween and Skip Horween about their rarest and most versatile colours, we secured the Horween Colour No.4, a deep, rich red-brown that’s both striking and versatile. Nick also noted the precision required to produce lighter cordovan shades, which makes this batch particularly special.
This is only the second time in 20 years that Colour No.4 has come to the UK, and there was only enough leather available for 20 pairs of sneakers and belts. Each shell has been carefully selected to highlight the unique character and beauty of the leather, demonstrating the artistry and effort behind each pair. It’s this individuality that makes each pair truly one of a kind - a hallmark of Crown Northampton craftsmanship.

A Sneaker That Bridges Formal and Casual
Colour No.4’s rich tones make these sneakers a versatile choice, smoothly transitioning between formal and casual wear. Wear them with tailored trousers for a polished look, or with relaxed denim for a more casual style. These are the only batch of Colour No.4 shells tanned this year; who knows when they will be in production again? Even so, it is unlikely to match this batch from 2024, which we feel was a very good year!
Each shell is carefully selected to highlight the natural depth and character of Horween cordovan, making sure that every sneaker we make is uniquely personal to its owner also making these 20 pairs a true collector’s item.

Sizing Support: Getting It Just Right
Each pair of D11 sneakers has taken over a year of work, from tanning at Horween to meticulous craftsmanship in our Northampton factory. We want them to fit perfectly, just as much as you do.
