On this side of the world, it's that time of the year when nature starts to display several striking tones of greens, browns, and yellow. In Northamptonshire, we're fortunate to be surrounded by an abundance of fields, trails, woods, and forests - The great outdoors and all of the natural beauty that comes with it.
With the Great British countryside as our backdrop, we recently headed out for a casual ramble-come photoshoot with the Overstone Hi Derby on our feet. As we're coming into the winter months the weather's naturally getting colder and wetter in England, it was only right to go with Horween Chromexcel. Chromexcel is a very interesting leather that undergoes several different processes and treatments to gain its unique finish and handle. Part of this century-old process includes the addition of a special blend of oils and greases that remains a closely guarded secret - unknown outside of the Horween Factory. For these reasons, Horween leathers are regarded as some of the very best in the world with a finish and eventual patina that is inimitable.
Good looks aside, Horween Chromexcel is a great choice for winter, especially in the Overstone Hi Sneaker. The material is thick, durable and due to oils and greases it has a natural resistance to rain and water. By no means is the Overstone Hi fully waterproof, but due to its sturdy build and construction, it is a great alternative to a heavy winter boot and with its cushioned sneaker sole, potentially a lot more comfortable. In its raw unworn form, Chromexcel is quite stiff but then when worn in, the leather becomes soft and moulds to the wearer's feet resulting in a warm, secure fit. Add to that the full natural leather lining that's found on all of our sneakers and you've got yourself the perfect footwear for the colder months ahead.
